Policies &
Information
Our Commitment
At FMDA, we strive to be 100% transparent about our policies. This page outlines all of them. You can also access these in the Parent Portal once enrolled.
All policies are in place to maintain a positive and fun environment where students can learn as much as possible from each class, company, and session. We are dedicated to giving our dance families MORE with each class—and these policies make that possible.
1) Once Enrolled
Once enrolled – or if you’re interested in how the season runs – please reference our Next Step Guide based on the program your student is enrolled in or considering. These guides are available on our website and will also be emailed and referenced throughout the season. Think of it as your roadmap to success! See next steps here
2) Weekly Newsletters
Please read these carefully each Monday. They contain important reminders about showcases, competitions, fun studio events, and additional performance opportunities for your dancer, acrobatist, or aerialist. (Find weekly news here, insert link)
3) Attendance Policy
When dancers are absent, please use the Parent Portal to notify us. This is required to receive a make-up class.
Make-Up Criteria:
- Must be the same length of class time and similar style
- No make-ups in Fluid, Motion, or Flowy rehearsals or classes
- All make-ups must be in a technique-based class or open studio/gym
Examples:
- Miss a Flowy Ballet/Contemporary → Make up in Ballet Barre
- Miss a Flowy Jazz/Hip-Hop → Make up in Leaps/Turns/Drills
- Miss a Tiny Twinkle Ballet/Tap → Make up in another Tiny Twinkle Ballet/Tap
- Miss Flowy Silks → Make up in Open Gym only
- Miss Fluid or Motion rehearsal → Make up in Open Studio only (exception: Production can make up in Ballet Barre or Leaps/Turns/Drills)
- Miss Leaps/Turns/Drills → Make up in Leaps/Turns/Drills or Ballet Barre
- Miss Ballet Barre → Make up in Ballet Barre or Leaps/Turns/Drills
- Miss Jazz Rep → Make up in another Jazz Rep or Leaps/Turns/Drills
- Miss Ballet Rep → Make up in Cecchetti Ballet class or Ballet Barre
We understand options are limited, but this is a generous way to offer make-ups without disrupting regular classes.
Example: You miss soccer practice—there’s no make-up or refund. We strive to give our clients MORE by providing some make-up options without disrupting others.
4) Class Attire Policy
All classes and companies have a dress code. We ask dancers to wear required attire weekly. This builds healthy habits and accountability.
Please reference attire by class under Youth Class Attire on our website.
Competitive Fluid or Motion company dancers will not be allowed to take class if not dressed appropriately. No make-up will be owed if asked to sit out due to improper attire (including outfit, shoes, and hair).
5) Class Expectations and Policies
- Respect faculty and peers. “Treat others how you would like to be treated” is our motto.
- Please keep hands to oneself. Hugs are allowed when we ask our friends first. Please refrain from picking up our friends to avoid an accident.
- We encourage students to have work ethic, positive mindset, self-discipline, punctuality, respect, humility, passion, kindness, inclusion, and dedication in all we do.
- Class participation: We encourage dancers to try new things and to give their best effort. Asking questions when needing further explanation or demonstration is strongly encouraged.
If a dancer doesn’t wish to participate in class, we will ask them to watch and join when they are ready. We use redirecting techniques and positive feedback to encourage students who may need more time to warm up. If there is a pattern of non-participation, we will discuss with the parent what we can do further to encourage and motivate their child.
6) Payment Policy
All members must have a card on file. Tuition is due on the 1st and will auto-process unless requested otherwise in writing.
Self-pay customers must log into the portal to process payment. Tuition is late after the 15th; a $30 late fee applies.
