Purpose
Commercial Companies are for dancers to develop their artistry and the use of proper technique to master the genres that interest them at a competitive and age‑appropriate level. We set high expectations while also creating a space that encourages balance in life. We focus on individualized training to help better the team as a whole. We believe dancers should be well‑rounded while also having the freedom to focus on the styles that they are most interested in.

*Please note: Ballet Rep does learn and work routine for The Fluid Motion Nutcracker & Spring Ballet. Commercial Company members are not required to perform; if not performing, they will still learn and work on Ballet Rep material as a fun way to practice the technique needed for Jazz and Musical Theater. Please select on the company commitment form if they will be performing in The Fluid Motion Nutcracker. If in Hip Hop only, dancers ages 12+ may substitute Ballet Rep for Jazz Rep.
One rehearsal for all companies is Production, except Minis. Production by audition acceptance only for Minis. If in Hip Hop only, ages 12+ may substitute Ballet Rep for Jazz Rep.
NEW!
We will have an Elementary‑Aged Production for Petites & Juniors along with a Middle/High School‑Aged Production for Pre‑Teen/Teens/Seniors. In addition to production by age, the full company will learn an “Opening/Closing Number” routine at Intensive. This will be practiced once a month at ALL COMPANY TECHNIQUE and run 1–2 times in each production practice.
Those not required to do Intensive will be required to attend “Open/Number All Company Day” (Day 1 of the Fluid Motion Company Intensive). This will be performed at showcase events & Liberty Showcase or another community event. It will NOT go to competition.
Fluid & Motion Rosters
Pre‑Teens, Teens, and Seniors (Middle School and High School) will learn the same routine as a large group by age division and will perform it together at showcase, community events, and the final competition of the season. Dancers will know upon auditions which roster they were accepted onto and may select on their audition form which company they are accepting. If we feel a dancer has grown mid‑year, we may move her from the Fluid roster to the Motion roster. Dancers will have separate Saturday rehearsals leading up to re‑block.
All ages are required to audition and are placed in a company based on age and skillset.
Readiness, Swings & Inclusivity
If we feel a dancer is not yet ready for one of our competitive companies, we may recommend they join one of our non‑competitive Flowy companies while taking the required technique classes. We may also offer these dancers the opportunity to be a Fluid Swing Company member. Swings have the same technique requirements and may be asked to step in if someone is injured or sick. Swings will perform in the Spring Showcase with the company.
We pride ourselves on being inclusive and tailoring each dancer’s training to meet them where they are, helping them reach their fullest potential as dance athletes and artists. We hold our company members to a high standard to help them become not only the best dancers they can be but also the best people they can be.
Optional Add‑On Routines
Solos, duets, and trios are optional add‑on routines. Please select on your audition form if you are interested in any of those opportunities. Weekly privates, choreography fees, and competition fees will apply. More details can be found HERE. (An additional technique class is required.)
