Requirements & Information
- Summer Choreography
- One additional technique class beyond company requirements
- Weekly 30‑minute private rehearsal
-
High School dancers may reduce to:
- 15‑minute weekly lesson, or
- 30‑minute lesson every other week (second semester)

Music Selection
Teachers will provide 2–3 song options. Dancers may share ideas, but the Artistic Director has final approval to ensure music is age‑appropriate, represents FMDA respectfully, is not over‑used, and highlights the dancer(s) best.
For duets/trios: if partners cannot agree on a song, the instructor will make the final decision.
Style Selection
Style is confirmed after company placements are announced. Be sure to indicate interest in solos, duets, or trios — and preferred styles — on your audition form.
Important Disclaimer
We cannot guarantee duet or trio placement, as many factors must be considered. All dancers are eligible for a solo. Families must understand that private lesson times may not align with other class or rehearsal schedules.
Event Requirements
- Duet/Trio dancers must attend all required Fluid or Motion events, depending on their company placement.
- Soloists may opt out of some regional competitions — this must be selected on the acceptance form at the start of the season.

Competition Day Expectations
The Artistic Director will be the instructor putting all solos, duets, and trios on stage at competition events.
Dancers are required to warm up and run their routines independently. The Artistic Director will provide a warm‑up and run the routine once if time allows, but may be backstage with groups or at awards.
This structure helps keep costs down, as teachers are paid while at competition events and we avoid adding additional fees.
